Muscle matters: Jacob’s Story and the Fight Against Muscular Dystrophy
This July, a group of determined individuals will come together for a powerful cause: to lift the equivalent weight of a jumbo jet, nearly 420,000kg!! (420T!!) through a weight lifting challenge. But this isn’t just about strength and endurance, it’s about something far more important. It’s about shining a light on muscular dystrophy and supporting those, like my son Jacob, who face its challenges every day.
Jacob is living with muscular dystrophy, a group of genetic conditions that cause muscles to weaken over time. There is currently no cure. For families like ours, each day brings new tests of resilience, but also new reasons to fight, raise awareness, to fund research, and to push for treatments that can change lives.
Jacob is an inspiration. Despite the physical difficulties he faces, he remains determined, joyful, and full of life. He’s joining this challenge not just to raise funds, but to stand proudly among those working for a better future. A future where a diagnosis of muscular dystrophy comes with hope, not fear.
We are incredibly grateful to every single person taking part in this challenge. Your strength is more than physical, it’s symbolic of the strength our community shows in the face of this condition. Your weight lifts are more than reps, they are steps toward a cure.
Every weight that’s lifted, every donation, every share of this story helps us get closer to that goal. Thank you for standing with Jacob and everyone affected by muscular dystrophy.
Let’s lift together for awareness, for hope, and for change.
